Plateful is seeking a passionate, creative, and values-driven Training & External Catering Manager to lead our hospitality training programmes and external catering activities.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by supporting refugees and asylum seekers to develop skills, gain confidence, and access pathways into employment. You will also help grow our social enterprise through external catering contracts and community events.
While this role is currently part-time for 6 months, we are ambitious about future growth and hope this position will develop into a full-time role as our impact expands.
About the Role
You will:
Deliver Hospitality Training & Employability Support
- Deliver our Introduction to Working in the UK Hospitality Sector programme.
- Provide practical hospitality and catering training.
- Mentor participants and support progression into employment.
- Build relationships with local organisations to recruit trainees.
Lead External Catering Activities
- Plan and deliver catering contracts, community dinners, and private events.
- Work alongside refugee chefs and participants to provide exceptional catering services.
- Develop new income-generating opportunities aligned with our social mission.
Coordinate Teams & Volunteers
- Recruit and support chefs, trainers, sessional staff, and volunteers.
- Foster an inclusive and collaborative team culture.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and leadership.
Build Partnerships
- Develop relationships with employers, funders, and community organisations.
- Create employment and volunteering opportunities for participants.
- Represent Plateful as an ambassador for inclusion and social cohesion.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Experience in catering, hospitality, training, employability support, or community food programmes.
- Experience delivering training or mentoring programmes.
- Strong organisational and event coordination skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Commitment to inclusion and working with diverse communities.
- Ability to balance commercial awareness with social impact.
Desirable
- Experience in the charity or social enterprise sector.
- Understanding of challenges faced by refugees and asylum seekers.
- Experience managing catering contracts and events.
- Passion for food as a tool for social change.
