Hello, I’m Maysoon, founder of Nubian Delights. My love for baking began in Sai(Nubba land north Sudan), where I learned from my grandmother that baking is about more than just sweets—it’s about sharing love, memories, and tradition. I came to the UK to build a better future for my family and to follow my passion. Starting over in a new country wasn’t easy, but it gave me the chance to turn my dream into a business. I’m also a proud mother of four amazing children, and in 2025, I graduated from The Open University with a degree in Business Management (Accounting). I pursued this qualification to better understand how businesses work and to gain the knowledge and confidence to run Nubian Delights—my biggest dream. At Nubian Delights, we specialise in custom cakes for all occasions, as well as mini cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. Our recipes blend my Nubian heritage with a modern twist, using fresh, high-quality ingredients from trusted local suppliers. We also offer vegan and vegetarian cakes on request, so there’s something for everyone. Nubian Delights is all about celebrating culture, community, and joy—one treat at a time.
Working with Plateful Café has been a truly uplifting experience for me and Nubian Delights. As a new business starter, I was struggling to find customers and promote my work. But being part of Plateful Café gave me so much more than just kitchen space—it gave me support, encouragement, and real opportunities. They invited me to take part in the Mike’s Table event, where I had the honour of presenting my bakes alongside professional chefs. It was a big moment for me and helped me believe in myself even more. Plateful Café also encouraged me to join a number of local events, which made a real difference. I began to meet new people, gain confidence, and reach potential customers— many of whom were referred to me through the café. These experiences pushed me to challenge myself and create even better products, because I wanted to make them proud. Their belief in me and my mission—that everyone deserves a sweet treat—has helped shape the growth of Nubian Delights in the most beautiful way.
